Favourite recipes from Jamie Oliver's 5 ingredients Book

19 November 2017

My husband and I love to cook, and we love a good recipe book. We have found it hard to dedicate the time to do recipes from books as the ones we like the look of always seem to need a lot of ingredients and take a lot of time.

Then along came Jamie Oliver's 5 ingredients recipe book to our lives and OMG! this book is so clever. Quick and easy recipes using 5 ingredients!!

I got my book here from Amazon. HIGHLY Recommended!!

Ladies and Gentleman, your girl Jasmine has got your back... I am going to give you the low down on this book and tell you some of my favourite recipes. I GOT YOU!

So.

The book does have some cupboard staples which will not count as the 5 ingredients. They are only 5 of them which is handy. (and clever! Nice Work Mr Oliver)

The cupboard staples are:

1.Olive Oil
2.Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3.Red Wine Vinegar
4.Sea Salt
5.Black Pepper

Not a too exotic list so happy days!!

Also, some recipes you can have stand alone as a Lunch or Snack. For some recipes, to have it as a main meal, Jamie's nutritionists recommend that something is added to make it a full meal. Be that rice, potatoes, Veg, Noodles etc..

My Favourite Recipes (so far!!!...):

1. Egg and Mango Chutney Flatbread

Hey, Who knew. Egg and Mango Chutney are a partnership made in heaven. Think Mickey and Minnie, Beauty and The Beast, Tom and Jerry, Dolce and Gabanna, Beyonce and....  Well my girl Bey don't need NOONE! But you get my point!. Solid.

I have made this about 4 times already ( I added avocado once [top pic]....added deliciousness!) , and its super LUSH, super quick and super easy! I plan on using the flatbread recipe for pizza bases and in the summer ( hurry back summer!!!) BBQ's... it's totally delicious. The recipe serves 2, but I just halved the ingredients to make it just for me and it worked!!

2.  Easy Sausage Carbonara

The husband actually made this recipe for me! It was so delicious! Simple yet tasty. The 'meatballs' are made from sausages and he other 4 ingredients are 150g dried tagliatelle, 1/2 bunch or 15g of fresh flat leaf parsley, 1 large egg and 30g parmesan cheese! So quick and So easy and a delicious meal for dinner. Total time to make just 15mins.

3. Golden Pork Escalope

This was so delicious! My love for Greek Flavours means that anything with tomatoes and Feta is a Win for me! This Pork escalope tasted divine, as it was coated in olive bread, giving such  Mediterranean taste. As you can see we added a jacket potato to have it as a main meal, and it was a perfect addition. This meal took about 15mins to make!

4. Chocolate Orange Shortbread

Need I say more. Chocolate and Shortbread. Winner. We skipped the orange, as I only had a small satsuma in the house, and the husband is not so keen on chocolate orange! yeah i know.... don't ask. But minus the orange this Shortbread still tastes yummy! I do love shortbread! It makes 12 fingers and they lasted quite a while in our house, surprisingly!
